Coming to prison has allowed for lots of self-reflection that has resulted in significant and drastic changes both physically and cognitively. For instance I have lost over 100 pounds, grown my hair out, and oh yeah...I'm a woman. On the cognitive side I don't even think the same, my entire life outlook is drastically different.
I hope to release from prison on time in 2021 and I will be releasing as a woman, unapologetically. But how do I speak to my children about it? I hope they understand, I cannot change it even if they don't. But I have to be honest, I am nervous about such a conversation.
