Toastmasters By Renee Permenter

I was sitting in a Toastmasters meeting yesterday waiting to present a motivational speach and the whole time I am stressing on the fact that I didn't prep for it at all. I knew full well I would do just fine, yet I still couldn't help but stress.
I have been involved with Toastmasters for a while now and I have run an experiment with myself. There for a while I was noticing I was not doing so well on the speaches I had been rehearsing, so I stopped rehearsing. It was like a whole different person was on stage speaking. So I split up the speaches and did some rehearsed and some "off the cuff". What I learned is that I am a much better speaker, on any topic, when I speak off the cuff with a few bullet points to keep me on track. The only speech I will say I definitively nailed after memorizing it, was the 20 minute keynote speech I wrote for the 2019 Pride Event at the facility I am housed currently. That was liberating and exilerating. Lots of fun.
