If a holistic view from Mt. Olympus made its inhabitants gods because they could see perfectly see the Earth then those of you outside who can see the world as it really is are then gods.
Your access to information makes you nearly omnipresent, even all-knowing especially when you consider access to Google, which we do not have. Prisoners are the creation of the gods, we are the humans the gods on Mt. Olympus created. Limited, but serving a purpose: you cannot be a god unless there is something which is less than a god. Much like the rich cannot be rich unless there is the poor, otherwise they are simply...normal.
