"Police fatally shot 987 people last year, the 3rd year in a row that the tally has neared 1,000. But the number of unarmed people shot has declined from 94 in 2015 to 68 last year. About 1 in 4 shot were described as mentally ill or suffering from extreme emotional distress. The number of officers killed in the line of duty, meanwhile, has declined from 66 in 2016 to 46 last year."

I encourage you to feel how you feel about the numbers in this, whether it be pro-law enforcement, pro-citizen action or simply just concerned about the state of humanity and our nation. But the one thing to think about, in case you missed it, is that's 21.5 times more citizens, armed or otherwise, killed by law enforcement than officers by citizens... Protect and Serve.
