The Thrum Of Life by Marshall Byers

Holding pure love, sustenance fade, so strange.
Watching her weep, arms out stretched,
old wooden vessel carries me away, safe voyage uncertain.
Letters pinned, again and again.

Precarious reflections, arising waves, disappointment.
Standing barefooted, cold waters edge.
Ship wrecked, ill-lit flickers of recollection.
Self-suffering, sinking sadness, how long has it been?
Letters pinned, again and again.

How do you forget something that you never remembered?

Wonder ...
despair...
guilt..
shame..
At last, ubiquitous regret.
Repeating year after year, after year.
Letters pinned, again and again.
